Welcome to the Goshin Jutsu Family
Goshin Jutsu Karate offers traditional Karate training for adults and children of all ages. Our training uses the mind and body to improve confidence, self-esteem, and discipline. At Goshin Jutsu you will learn basic and advanced self-defense and we encourage attendance at local and state competitions! Karate classes are a great form of exercise to get and stay in shape.
Grand Master Brague
Master Joe Brague began his martial arts studies in 1967 under Bob Brooks, a Goju stylist. Master Brague began studying Goshin Jutsu under Patti Alberts in Sunbury, PA, who introduced him to Grand Master Durant. Master Brague achieved his 5th Dan ranking in 1975 and held the U.S. Directorship of Goshin Jutsu under Grand Master Durant from 1975 to 1983.
In 1983 the Goshin system fell into a time of disagreement and split into two sections. Master Joe Brague became the head of a new branch named Goshin Jutsu Karate and centered in Williamsport, PA. Kyoto, as Grand Master Durant was known to many, eventually moved to Texas to be near his family.
Master Brague was promoted to 10th Dan by the Yudan-Shakai on November 23, 1993 and he now carries the title of Grand Master of Goshin Jutsu. Grand Master Brague’s dojo is located in Williamsport, PA.
A Family of Masters
The Brague’s have a long tradition of training and teaching of the Martial Arts. Grand Master Joe Brague, 10th Dan (Degree), Master Michele Brague, 7th Dan, Master Joe Brague Jr., 6th Dan, and Master Ryan Brague, 6th Dan have over of total combined Martial arts training!
Training in the Martial Arts requires a lifetime of learning, dedication, and love of the arts to excel and attain rank. It is very rare to have 2 black belts in one family and even more rare to have 4 Masters. Countless trophies have been won at tournaments where we have expressed ourselves in Kata, Weapons, and Sparring; key aspects of the competition. Many generations have training with Goshin Jutsu Karate and it has perpetuated a tradition of excellence.
Grand Master Joe Brague and Master Michele Brague met through the Martial Arts while at a karate tournament! Master Ryan Brague is still training at the Williamsport Dojo and Master Joe Brague Jr. runs the Pittsburgh Dojo (Owner of Steel City Goshin Jutsu Karate).
